Over many years digital audio has developed a reputation for being superficially better than analogue recording, but often failing to generate that final magic that analogue recording brought to many classic recordings of the past. Most users of digital recording equipment resort to analogue processors for at least part of the signal chain. This is often the front end microphone amplifier, the back end mastering processing, or the channel processing done during the mix.
Sintefex Audio was founded to investigate what the magic of analogue was, and to bring it into the digital processing sphere. We pioneered the unique "Dynamic Convolution" patented techniques that allows the sampling and emulation of classic equalisers and compressors.
These inventions first saw the light of day in our ground breaking FX8000 range of sampling digital signal processors. The units we could make were snapped up mostly by mastering engineers around the globe, allowing them to have a library of sampled analogue gear that didn't also have to suffer all the related analogue problems of noise, unreliability, unrepeatability and impossibility (often) to get matched channels for stereo (let alone surround sound).
These first mammoth machines which contained up to 40 DSPs cooperating to simulate the analogue sound led on to a new approach, to license the core technology and to develop it further for lower cost solutions. Licensed solutions included the Focusrite Liquid Channel (tm) sampled microphone preamplifier, now in heavy demand as the ultimate programmable front end, together with its 4 channel successor, the Focusrite Liquid 4 Pre (tm). We also licensed the equaliser and compressor modelling for the unique Focusrite Liquid Mix (tm), now available together with a lower cost Liquid Mix 16 (tm) and the Protools native Liquid Mix HD (tm). All these are trademarks of and exclusively manufactured by Focusrite.
Sintefex Audio are dedicated to further applications of this patented technology, please keep an eye out here for news of these.
We are also developing other technologies, and are happy to introduce some lower cost plugin solutions for the recording professional and enthusiast alike. We expect to make these available for download via this website, and from time to time there will be beta test and trial items available for download. The new year 2009 sees the introduction of tQ1 by Sintefex a low overhead simple EQ, designed for use across many channels of a mix or recording.
Our approach is always to seek audio solutions that step beyond the expectations of digital recording. We hope you will stay with us on this journey.
