Software Engineer

We need an enthusiastic software engineer to join our small team. This would suit a college leaver as although we expect you to be familiar with computer programming, you will learn a number of important skills as you carry out this job. We'd also like to hear from you if you are experienced and looking to change your job and feel like a technical challenge as well as a new working environment and a mediterranean climate.

You will be programming mostly in C++ for Windows and Mac OSX operating systems. Much of the work is involved in developing the user interface of our industry rocking audio processing hardware and software. There is also the opportunity to learn skills in DSP audio processing and realtime operation for audio applications.

We would expect a good familiarity with programming in modern object oriented languages. Qualification in software programming would be an advantage. A mathematical background would also help but is not essential.

You will work closely with our experienced software staff and technical director who will provide hands on guidance and supervision. Later you will become self motivated and be expected to contribute to the R&D effort and direction.

A driving licence is almost essential.

Sintefex Audio Lda is based in Portugal and is run by three English directors. For English speakers, language is not a problem as we usually use English in the office, but interested employees will be funded for Portuguese lessons if desired.

Principle activities are as defined in the job description, but as we are a small company you will be expected to participate from time to time in any commercial activities related to our business.

We are located within about 30 minutes' drive of the south coast in the Algarve region so the life-style opportunities outside the office include relaxing beaches or a vibrant night life, according to your taste. Activities including swimming, diving, surfing and most water activities abound. Because of the climate many of these activities are available year-round. The west coast is about one hour's drive and its rugged cliffs and Atlantic winds make it an exciting area for the more athletic or nature conscious.

Lisbon is a couple of hours' drive away and there is a rapid and cheap train service. World class concerts are staged regularly at the Europark and there are many cultural events throughout the city.

Applicants from the UK will be interested to know that the cost of living is substantially lower than in the UK and we will offer a competitive package. Reasonable relocation costs will be met.
